Back to school today and the first day of 30 Days Wild!
I'll be honest, after a busy weekend, first day back at work after half term and having lots to do today I was rather regretting signing up for this challenge and I felt a bit stressed about it all day - what was I going to do and when was I going to fit it in? I needn't have worried though!
It was a lovely start to the day...

but the sunshine didn't last and I didn't manage to get out to play until about 4:15pm, when it was wet and windy! I actually quite like walking in the rain though so I did a walk from home, into the woods and back across the fields.
As soon as I reached the woods I was lost in the sounds of birdsong and raindrops on the leaves above... the long to do list was forgotten and I was so glad to be outdoors in the rain, so glad that I did sign up for this challenge!
I walked a path I very rarely walk and was surrounded by birds and flowers. I had great views of nuthatch, jay and mistle thrush as well as all the usual suspects - but no photos due to that annoying habit birds have of disappearing as you're about to push the button! There are so many flowers growing everywhere I gave up counting species and decided there are too many to name! There was, of course, a lot of mud too and I did jump in a few puddles :)
Back home after an hour outdoors, time to put the kettle on and I timed it just right to see a sparrowhawk flying over the garden!
Not a bad start to 30 Days Wild at all ... I wonder where it'll take me tomorrow?!

See there was no need to worry, if you had ot gone out you would have mised all these beautiful things, love the photo of the Rabbit.
ReplyDeleteFirst day of summer ! I have embraced the wind and rain on my face:)
Amanda xx
I've been stressing about the challenge too, especially as I'm out at work all day and then for 2 evenings I'm out too! Still I'm sure I'll fit something in. Loved your walk in the woods - what a gorgeous place to have on your doorstep. x
ReplyDeleteLooked like you have had a lovely walk! I particularly liked the rabbit stretching upwards and the water droplets on the leaves! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see where we all end up on this challenge!
I just went and did my one for the challenge- was a bit of a rubbish one but rather reminiscent of your last paragraph! No photos sadly. This is a wonderful post! Really special with all the photos and that's a rabbit isn't it! Beautiful xx
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Louise. A very nice woodland walk you had today, well done. I know what you mean about regretting signing up and worrying about fitting it all in, I was like that too today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great set of photos for your first day. I had great plans too, that didnt quite work out either...tooo much wind and rain. I managed to come up with something, although not quite as special as your wonderful walk photos. Looking forward to seeing what we all get up to next. xx
ReplyDeleteAhhh - I can tell you are up North just by looking at the woodland plants - Bluebells went over a couple of weeks ago down here in the Cotswolds, the Ramsons are now moving past it too.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your woodland pics - my day 1 of the challenge was totally rained/blown off course!
This is a fantastic start to your 30 Days Wild, Louise, beautiful photos! I am excited to keep up with these as your photography is always gorgeous! - Tasha
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful walk even if it was squelchy! I know what you mean about taking pics of birds. I have been trying to get a picture of a jay for about three years. They laugh at me I think! Loved the rabbit photos.
